Job Posting for Assistant County Attorney at Marshall County Attorney's Office
Major Functions:
Prosecution of misdemeanor and felony matters, including jury trials.
Representing the State of Iowa and Marshall County in court proceedings.
Opportunities for community outreach.
Recommending to the County Attorney regarding advisability of prosecution and related actions in prosecutions and criminal investigations.
Assisting law enforcement with investigations and charging decisions, including outside of normal office hours.
Advising Marshall County officials concerning legal obligations, rights, and options.
Communication with other employees, law enforcement, attorneys, witnesses, victims and the general public.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
JD Degree from an accredited law school.
Admission to the bar of the State of Iowa or expected to pass the bar examination in the spring of 2024.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must be able to commute to/from Marshall County Courthouse.
Previous prosecution experience is preferable but not required.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, depending on experience.
New courthouse facilities opened in 2023.
