Laundry Technician - Full Time

General Description
The Laundry Technician will perform the day-to-day tasks to maintain a clean and sterile environment and a positive experience for our residents and families regarding the resident's personal clothing.
Schedule:
Tuesday- Saturday 7am- 3:30pm depending on need of the facility
Some fun things you’ll do:
- Tend laundering machines to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings and personal articles of residents.
- Collect and sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. and place in assigned containers.
- Load articles into washer, adding specified amount of detergent or other cleaning agents.
- Lift clean, wet articles from washer and place into dryers for measured time cycles.
- Sort dry articles according to identification numbers, name or type.
- Fold and place items in appropriate storage bins.
- Hang clothes on racks according to name and numbers.
- Deliver all personal laundry to designated areas and track resident’s personal clothing inventory
- Ensure that all clothes are mended and ready to wear.
- Ensure laundry area and floors remain neat and clean.
- Follow Missing Items procedure when resident reports missing clothing/items including getting descriptions, interviewing resident for length of time the item(s) has been missing, was it labeled, notifying appropriate people of missing items, searching for item in resident’s room, neighbor’s and other resident’s rooms, searching unit closets, shelves, etc., maintain missing clothing report, follow up with resident, writing formal report and submitting to Social Services staff.
- Follow Labeling Policy to ensure all resident items are labeled timely and properly including checking previous days admits, explaining labeling procedure to resident and family members, gathering clothing items, laundering them, recording items to be labeled, label and return clothing to residents. Follow up with residents in case new items were brought in for them.
- Follow procedure for holding resident articles upon discharge, death, or temporarily leaving M&M including storing items, contacting family members regarding what to do with items and recording actions taken.
- Contact and give items, per family members, Goodwill, etc. and record.
- Assist with packing of resident’s items when necessary.
- May also assist residents to eat in dining rooms, as regulations allow.
