GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
1. Plans, organizes and carries out nursing service on the assigned nursing units
2. Orients, instructs , and supervised personnel on the assigned unit.
3. Complies with established policies and procedures
4. Performs duties of staff nurse as required
RESPONSIBLITIES:
1. Plans effective administration of assigned unit. Analyzes and evaluates nursing service needs and determines staffing requirements. Interprets principles of good management to nursing personnel and implements application of these principles in daily work.
2. Prepares work schedules for personnel and assigned duties.
3. Reviews and interprets work performance against accepted standards. Visits each patient at least once during tour of duty
4. May participate in in service training and education. Orients, instructs new personnel on unit.
5. Assures patients of having comfortable, clean, orderly and safe environment.
6. Evaluates and assesses medical, social ,psychological and spiritual needs of individual patients in unit and develops nursing care plans for individual patients combining medical care, restorative and rehabilitative care and periodically reviews patient care plans
7. Abides by established policies and procedures for assigned unit and checks for compliance with these by nursing personnel.
8. Instruct relatives
May develop a pre discharge program for individual patients. Arranges transfer of patients to other facilities and competes required forms. Notifies, Physicians, family or relatives when patient condition changes and in case of death and may call funeral home of family
