What are the responsibilities and job description for the Millwright 2nd Shift position at Martin Marietta?
Position Summary
This position reports to the Mobile Maintenance Manager but takes a great deal of direction from the Senior Mechanic and is the mid-level mechanics position in this department. Preventative maintenance and repairs to both plant and mobile equipment mechanics are in this classification.
Requirements
- Accountable to perform all of the maintenance duties required by this position.
- Maintain an excellent work/safety record of with high standard of performance and production
- Perform simple and intermediate type diagnosis repairs without constant supervision
- Cut and weld basic work, which has been laid out for him/her
- Properly use electrical and pressure testing equipment
- Perform thorough preventative maintenance on all equipment
- Assist other mechanics as needed
- Maintain a positive attitude
- Able to logically work through problems to solution
- Able to read and write and communicate effectively
- Possess a valid C.D.L.(able to pass required drug screen and physical examination)
- Able to work flexible work schedule
- Learn requisites of Senior Mechanic within 5 years
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Minimum Education and Experience
- 3 year’s experience in related heavy duty maintenance job or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Must maintain own set of basic hand tools
- Maintain a neat clean work environment with an excellent safety record (actively participate in safety program)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing/walking, balance, bend from trunk, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects.
- Lift objects of various dimensions and weights
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands
- Ability to operate foot pedals with both feet
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching
- Ability to use vibration tools
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather
- Ability to work in areas with the potential for high noise levels
- Ability to work in cramped quarters
- Ability to tolerate working at heights up to 100 feet
- Vision: Normal depth perception, vision and ability to distinguish color
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions-heat, cold, wet or dry
- Some exposure to dust, sand, gravel, diesel exhaust, etc.
