Pit operator

Description

Position Summary

This position is responsible for safely and efficiently operating a Pit Loader while loading haul trucks in a production setting in the pit.

The pit loader will maintain safe working speeds and promote site safety by asserting leadership of truck drivers onsite.

Hours : Monday-Friday : 7AM-5PM Jamestown Quarry5725 Riverdale DrJamestown, NC 27282 Make / Model : 988G / 988H CAT 120 Loads / Day 12 Ton Buckets Responsibilities

• Operates a pit loader within the company guidelines and safety standards
• Completes daily pre and post inspection of working areas and ensures they are equipped with adequate berms and roadways
• Performs pre-shift safety inspection on equipment and reports needed repairs to the supervisor
• Ensures safe operations around conveyors, surge piles, on haul roads and in the pit.
• Performs daily preventative maintenance - tire pressure, oil, grease, diesel fuel, hoses for leaks and all moving parts for proper function
• Maintains safe traffic flow throughout the site
• Aides in the training of co-workers as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

• Must be safety conscious, dependable, and motivated
• Will take an active role in the plant safety initiatives
• Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
• Willing to cross-train in different areas of production

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience to perform the responsibilities associated with this position
• Experience in the maintenance and operation of mobile equipment and / or equipment used processing plants
• Six (6) months of experience in the operation and maintenance of a front-end loader preferred

• Able to work cooperatively with others toward a shared goal, contribute actively to the team efforts, and possess a positive attitude in working with others as a team
• Possess effective coordination and communication skills
• Possess strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge and skills
• Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to perform duties with minimal supervision
• Able to work varying shifts as needed, outdoors, in varying weather conditions
• Able to adhere to MSHA guidelines and plant safety rules and regulations
• Able to ensure a safe work environment by prioritizing safety, then quality, followed by production
