The Technician Development Coordinator works under the direction of the Certified Dealer Instructor (CDI) along with input from Regional & Location Service Management to assess service technician deficiencies on an individual level. Actively develops and participates in one-on-one technician training & development activities at dealership locations to expedite understanding of processes, procedures, and best practices.
Responsibilities
- Gather input from CDI, TC’s and service management to analyze needs for technical talent development at each location
- Create a published & scheduled rotation between store locations and/or regions to provide on-site instruction as needed
- Participate in and follow up after Service Technician Onboarding process to expedite technician job readiness and maximize labor performance
- Develop technician training paths and topics that align with CDI program parameters
- Participate in John Deere Certification Program to obtain CDI accreditation/status
- Develop an understanding of and coach around Martin Tractor’s Service Department processes (machine inspections, diagnostic documentation, standard job pricing, etc)
- Develop an understanding of and coach around Martin Tractor’s Service Department performance metrics (Productivity, Efficiency, Labor Performance, Billed Hours, etc)
- Serves as a resource for Technicians, Service/Aftermarket Managers, Technical Communicators & Certified Dealer Instructor
- May be required to act in a technical/product support capacity during peak seasons depending on seasonal needs
- Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with peers, management, and company resources, with a constant commitment to teamwork and innovation
- Ensure that company’s reputation and image in the community is consistent with company values
- Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities
- Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashion
- Follows all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments
- Maintains knowledge of John Deere and competitive products
- Ability to travel between Martin Tractor locations with minimal lead time
Experience, Education, Skills and Knowledge
- 3 years of experience as a Service Technician or similar role; demonstrated experience with Ag, Construction or Heavy Equipment preferred
- Experience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR, Parts ADVISOR, or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred
- Experience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in Ag, Construction, Turf, or Heavy Equipment
- Ability to read and interpret schematics
- Experience communicating effectively
- Experience working in a training or instructional capacity
- Ability to provide direction, gather input & provide feedback
- Experience analyzing and interpreting service technician performance reports
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred
- Successful completion of a John Deere Ag Tech or similar Diesel Powered Equipment program highly preferred
