JOB OVERVIEW
This position supports the financial operations and project accounting team at MartinFed's Headquarters in Huntsville, AL.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills and experience working in a small business team environment. This position requires experience prioritizing multiple tasks and a level of comfort working with cross functional teams to include accounting, contract, and program control. A thorough understanding of government contracts project-based accounting is required. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in preparing invoices for the government as well as other prime government contracts customers with knowledge of accounts payable processing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform scheduled review and analysis of project costs each month to assure all projects are ready for timely revenue recognition and invoicing.
- Responsible for completing monthly invoice cycles to include preparation, review, and analysis of system-generated report. Researches and resolves discrepancies between invoices and job cost reports.
- Analyze project costs/expenses for compliance with the contractual requirements and Government regulations.
- Research any unbilled issues to optimize invoicing for the monthly invoicing cycle.
- Communicate directly with CEO, Controller, Contracts, Pricing, and Program leads on status of projects and to resolve any project or reporting issues.
- Effectively manage accounts receivable to assure timely payment of invoices and communicate issues to COO and Controller.
- Review contractual requirements to ensure invoices are prepared as required by the customer.
- Support contract closeout process generating financial reports and final invoices when requested.
- Provide support for annual & periodic audits and tax reporting requirements, including research and reconcilement.
- Assist in month end close procedures including, performing monthly account reconciliations.
- Support special projects as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 4 years accounting and government contractor experience.
- Knowledge and experience with DCAA/FAR required accounting practices, cost pool structures and cost segregation are required.
- Experience with using ERP systems to manage financial aspects of the company for electronic timekeeping and project planning software.
- Hands-on expertise with project reporting on different contract types (Cost Plus, Fixed Price, Time & Material), knowledge of timekeeping and expense reporting, accounting and financial analysis, project management, contracts.
- Proficient in use of PC and software applications including Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Must possess strong analytical skills, good organization and communication skills.
- Detail oriented and professional in their dealings with external and internal customers.
- Must be able to handle multiple tasks and set priorities in a fast-growing company.
DESIRED QUALIFCATIONS
- JAMIS Prime ERP accounting system experienced highly desired.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
- General office environment.
- The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Some walking, standing, bending, reaching, and carrying of light items such as papers and books.
- Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office equipment.
