What are the responsibilities and job description for the Enterprise Workers Compensation Specialist position at Marvin?
The Enterprise Workers Compensation (WC) Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day management of Marvin’s Workers Compensation Program as it applies to litigated and indemnity claims. This position works as part of a team to ensure that claims are handled to expectations from the point of intake to resolution. The WC Specialist is responsible to ensure their assigned caseload is successfully handled using Third-Party partners such as Marvin’s Third Party Claims Administrator, medical care facilities, or other collaborators; these claims must be managed to expectations of Marvin claims handling strategy.
Highlights of your role
- Have knowledge of multiple jurisdictions; both of primary work responsibility and those outside of core responsibility to act as a back up
- Handle all indemnity claims for assigned jurisdictions, as well as med-only claims of concern
- Establish action plans based on case facts, best practices, protocols, regulatory issues and available resources, to bring claims to closure
- Have strong knowledge of OSHA’s 1904 standard on recordkeeping and communicate to site EHS partners medical information which would trigger OSHA recordability
- Review medical notes from Med Only claims managed by the coordinator for OSHA recordability, and communicate as well to site EHS partners
- Work with other departments within Enterprise Risk Management to obtain and evaluate police reports, video footage, previous insurance claims and other information as needed
- Have competency in both Marvin and Third Party Administrator (TPA) data systems (UKG, ADP, Origami, Risk Management Information Systems )
- Identify potential points of concern with TPA like failure to adhere to payment schedules, remediate as possible, and report to Enterprise WC Manager
- Manage employee expectations and concerns surrounding the claims process
- Ensure Marvin and State Laws requirements of paperwork, reporting, and general claims management are met
- Identify training needs for Coordinator partner, and ensure a focus on continuing education is adhered to with a goal to train on covering on indemnity claims during times of leave
- Other duties as assigned
You're a good fit if you have
- 2 years of direct Workers Compensation experience managing indemnity and litigated claims
- Associates degree preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing and/or transportation environment preferred
- Excellent communication skills a must
- Proficiency in Risk Management Information Systems, as well as Microsoft Office
- Ability to quickly problem solve, and address urgent issues within parameters of Marvin’s WC Program and state statutes
- Willingness towards continuing education
- Ability to travel (10% per year) and willingness to work outside of core hours as needed
