Description
The Individual Giving Manager is a front-line fundraiser responsible for securing significant philanthropic support for Mary’s Place, with a primary focus on prospective donors who are capable of making a gift of $1,000 or more. This position is part of a seasoned development team that is responsible for securing over $17 million from private support annually.
The primary responsibility of the Individual Giving Manager is engaging and nurturing our critical $1,000-$4,999 donor segment through meaningful stewardship and personalized solicitations to increase donor loyalty and upgrading. The Individual Giving Manager will also coordinate staff and volunteer outreach to individual donors for Mary’s Place fundraising campaigns and track progress against campaign goals. An additional area of responsibility will be building on Mary’s Place relationships with Seattle-area faith communities and their investment in our work.
The Individual Giving Manager is accountable to personal goals and metrics, which include dollars raised, asks made, and meaningful contacts made with donors in the portfolio. Specific goals will be set prior to the start of each Fiscal Year. The Individual Giving Manager participates in ongoing and regular assessment of progress toward these goals with the supervisor.

This is a full-time, exempt position requiring extended hours, with flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed. The annual salary for this position is $60,000 - $65,000, DOE.
The Individual Giving Manager reports to the Major Gifts Director.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
· Develop and implement a calendarized annual plan for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of the $1,000-$4,999 individual donor segment (approx. 1,200 households), balancing broad-based and individual outreach. Identify and implement new approaches for engaging and recognizing this donor segment. Work with Annual Giving Manager, Major Gifts Director, Chief Development Officer, and Chief Communications Officer to plan and execute special solicitations and other communications.
· Manage a portfolio of individual donors for significant personal engagement in the coming year. Conduct and document personal visits and meaningful contacts to qualify, cultivate and/or steward individual donors and prospective donors. Research, identify and engage new prospective donors.
· Solicit individual gifts and complete necessary follow-up to advance the conversation and secure support to meet revenue goals.
· Share prompt and meaningful gratitude with individual donors in assigned range and portfolio, in accordance with Mary’s Place gift acknowledgment and gratitude procedures.
· Use wealth screening, qualification visits and other research methods to identify donors who are prospects for future major and/or planned gifts. Share planned gift opportunities as appropriate and confirm and document new planned gift intentions.
· Support outreach to individual donors for Mary’s Place fundraising campaigns, such as No Child Sleeps Outside, challenge matches, and year-end giving campaigns.
· Coordinate with the Events team on soliciting and securing table captains and donors for the annual Gala, Luncheon, and other organizational fundraising events throughout the year .
· Re-engage congregation and faith communities. Build on Mary’s Place historic relationships and leverage strategic contacts to increase support from congregations, faith groups and individuals, and identify potential planned giving prospects within these communities.
· Be accountable to mutually agreed upon goals, strategies and metrics, participating in ongoing and regular assessment of progress toward goals.
· Use Raiser’s Edge NXT to document activity and actions, update donor records and coding, manage portfolio and opportunities, and pull reports to support your work.
· Represent the organization at public events, presentations, and speaking engagements to educate about the organization’s mission, vision, goals, and opportunities for engagement/partnership.
· Assist with other Development projects and duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications Required
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
· Minimum of three years of professional experience in non-profit fundraising or a comparable field preferred, with at least part of this experience focused on building relationships with and securing support from individual donors.
· Proven track record engaging a large portfolio of donors to understand their philanthropic motivations, deepen their relationship with the organization, solicit new and gifts and renewals, and steward their contributions.
· Outstanding oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact and communicate clearly, effectively and professionally with internal and external audiences.
· Experience leveraging annual giving tools and best practices to increase philanthropic support by individual donors and groups of donors.
· Ability to think strategically, multi-task, prioritize, respond promptly, and meet deadlines and performance goals.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and donor database software (experience with Raiser’s Edge/NXT software a plus).
· Highly motivated, resourceful, flexible, and possesses a positive attitude and sense of humor.
· Ability to interact effectively with co-workers and volunteers of all levels, as well as with representatives of other organizations and institutions.
· Exhibits compassion and empathy; works well with people from all ethnic, social, economic and sexual orientation backgrounds.
· Must have valid driver’s license, reliable access to a car, and proof of car insurance.
