The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) Office of Structures (Baltimore City) is recruiting for an IT Assistant (Computer Information Services Specialist II) position. This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualifications listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this MDOT SHA position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future recruitment conducted for this job classification. . 

The primary responsibilities for this position are to distribute, install, and maintain computer software, hardware, and applications; and to provide computer related services and support to the Office of Structures. The IT Assistant will also maintain the integrity of the MDOT SHA’s computer network system by ensuring compliance with all agency regulations.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
 
EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience evaluating, implementing and maintaining microcomputer   hardware and software.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATION: Six (6) months of the required experience must have involved working as the first point of contact or 1st tier help desk technician for a Wide Area Network (WAN).
 
NOTES:            
 
1.  Experience responding to and resolving help desk calls from users of computers or operating computer equipment for the purpose of data entry, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, database or other applications may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
 
2.  Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Cyber and Information Systems classifications or Cyber and Information Systems specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. None. TO APPLY:  All applicants must submit an application online at http://agency.governmentjobs.com/mdotmd[NL1].  Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of completed applications.
