Job Description: Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for an Environmental Specialist (ES) or a Senior Environmental Specialist (SES) in Environmental Dredging and Restoration located at the MES Headquarters in Millersville, MD. The selected candidate will be responsible for various tasks which may include, writing and formatting technical reports, performing field work associated with regulatory and nonregulatory monitoring events (including but not limited to, water quality sampling and analysis, wetland monitoring, and invasive species control), providing data reviews and compilations, providing support on outreach activities, meeting preparation including meeting materials and meeting summaries, environmental education support, and performing other environmental project related tasks. Occasional attendance at evening meetings may be required. Estimated Pay Range: ES: $39,828.36 - $54,763.39 SES: $43,810.47 - $60,239.85 Benefits: Health Insurance with choice of medical plan and prescription, dental, vision, and life and disability insurance options, along with flexible spending accounts 401K retirement savings program with generous agency match Paid vacation, personal and sick leave Ten paid holidays per year Tuition assistance Minimum Requirements: Required minimum qualifications: For an ES: includes a Bachelors Degree in environmental science, engineering, ecology or a related field from an accredited college or university, plus one year of experience. For an SES: includes a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in addition to educational requirements. One year of experience must have included responsibility managing environmental projects and providing leadership to other professional and technical staff. An applicable advanced education degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience. For all positions, possession of a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. Preferred skills: Include fluency in MS Office Suite and experience in vegetation and/or fish identification, water quality sampling, regulatory permitting and compliance monitoring and reporting, and technical report writing.
