Summary: Assists the head baseball coach in carrying out all assigned and auxiliary duties of the baseball program, while serving as the primary hitting coach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary hitting coach for the baseball team.
- Assists in the recruiting of all potential student athletes.
- Complies fully with NCAA, Collegiate Conference of the South, and Maryville College policies.
- Establishes good rapport and generates respect among students, campus colleagues, and the local community by conducting oneself in an ethical manner.
- Assists in the supervision, scheduling, and maintenance of facilities.
- Attends all practices, meetings, and contests.
- Assists in filing all reports relative to baseball, as assigned by the head coach.
- Assists in the selection, training and supervision of student assistants and managers.
- Assists in the organization and supervision of all off-campus trips.
- Maintains office hours as assigned by the head coach.
- Serve as a Game Manager for select home athletic events.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

This position may supervise student employment jobs, as necessary.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university. Former college baseball student-athlete playing experience is preferred. Two-three years of related baseball hitting coach experience and/or training.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
A valid Tennessee Driver’s license is required.
