This position is responsible for packaging students with various forms of financial aid, providing counseling to students and families, processing returns of Title IV funds, and maintaining compliance with internal and external regulations.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for accurate, and ongoing packaging of students with financial aid, including Institutional, Federal, State, and outside aid. Ensure compliance of practices.
- Review and Process required Return of Title IV (R2T4) for federal funds, ensuring timely processing, compliance with practices, and distributing required notifications of returned funds.
- Review errors & make corrections within caseload. Adjust awards for changes in eligibility Evaluate for Special Conditions & Professional Judgement.
- Provide counseling both in person, via email, within phone queue, to prospective, current & previous students/families regarding financial aid. Respond to all markets (student, family, faculty, staff) interpreting policies, programs and procedures to answer and resolve issues as they occur. Promptly respond to cases assigned to Financial Aid
- Administer outside scholarships; add those to financial aid awards and recalculate need.
- Provide monthly reconciliation for Pell Grant.
- Assist with additional responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to federal loan processing and reconciliation, private loans, and reporting to COD, NSLDS & CPS.
- Provide back up support for other packaging caseload as needed.
- Participate in federal, state, and institutional training, staying current on regulatory, changes and requirements. Attend department, division, and all staff meetings.
- Knowledge of federal, state and private rules, regulations and guidelines governing the administration of internal and external financial aid programs.
- Familiarity with accounting principles.
- Basic knowledge of the interrelationship among education information centers (i.e., Registrar’s Office, Cashier’s Office, Admissions Office).
- Knowledge of Datatel UI Financial Aid, Admissions, Registrar’s screens.
- Knowledge of computers and computer software (Word and Excel).
- Familiarity with federal software (COD, NSLDS, SAIG, IFAP, FAFSA), state software (FAMOUS).
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of equivalent professional/technical experience
