POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department Subcontracts Manager reports to the Director of Risk Management and is responsible for reviewing, negotiating, and managing downstream construction and commercial contracts.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
· Review and negotiate construction and commercial agreements; prepare and respond to redlines based on Company’s risk profile and contracts playbook standards.
· Coordinate cross-functional review of contracts by other internal departments; e.g., safety and accounting.
· Conduct analysis of contract provisions and propose recommended action/treatment to internal stakeholders.
· Assist estimating teams with project proposals by reviewing bid documents and sourcing possible subcontractors.
· Work with project teams to issue notices and project-related correspondence.
· Other tasks as assigned.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
· Construction agreements including EPC/CSA/MSA and various procurement and professional services agreements.
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
· Possess subject-matter expertise in contract management principles and techniques.
· Possess demonstrated understanding of common construction agreement provisions including indemnities, warranties, limits of liability, risk of loss, schedule milestones/LD’s, force majeure and change orders.
· Ability to negotiate difficult and complex contractual provisions.
· Strong organizational skills, initiative, and meticulous attention to details.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to deal with multiple assignments, to prioritize, and to progress assignments without constant oversight.
· Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Outlook, Excel).
· Familiarity working within SharePoint.
· Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Industrial’s Zero Injury principles.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· When visiting jobsites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
· This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
HOURS:
This position is a standard Full-Time position, with a general business operating schedule, Monday-Friday.
TRAVEL:
Travel required up to 15%.
