JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for all aspects of the continuous improvement program to ensure successful attainment of plant goals and objectives across multiple operational sites.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that Continuous Improvement methodology is utilized to drive sustainable manufacturing and business process improvements that optimize capacity and productivity, improve quality, reduce lead-time, lower operational cost, improve customer satisfaction, minimize inventories, introduce and cascade best practices and improve process flow.
- Identify opportunities and lead the implementation of improvements to the corporate Management Operating System (MOS).
- Assist leadership in establishing baseline and target metrics within the MOS.
- Mentor, coach, and train plant Continuous Improvement leaders on standards of operational excellence; tool and process development and application; improvement tracking, the MOS and metric management.
- Lead a consistent approach across the organization and execution of lean projects, with the Production, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering and support functions, and work with local management to help create the Lean Vision for the plants.
- Develop and execute plant Continuous Improvement goals and business plans in cooperation with plant managers and in alignment to corporate objectives and metric goals.
- Develop and lead continuous improvement activities and training schedules including Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM), DMAIC problem solving methodology, 5S, Value Stream Management planning and the implementation of lean manufacturing methods to achieve and exceed goals and objectives.
- Coordinate and facilitate Kaizen events for the continuous improvement of operations systems processes.
- Maintain cost reduction documentation and tracking methodologies along with MOS and finance requirements and provide recommendations for further cost saving initiatives.
- Develop, implement and conduct training programs and processes for professional development of the operations team to increase the capacity, capability and culture of Continuous Improvement.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by effectively leveraging communication processes and employee relations programs.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience; 5 years of Continuous Improvement lean manufacturing leadership and practical application of continuous improvement programs, processes and systems.
- 3 years management experience in manufacturing processes, personnel and/or training.
- Six Sigma Green Belt Certification or comparable problem solving certification.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams.
- Demonstrated successful ability to organize and prioritize work to ensure timely deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking and decision making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel regularly between plant locations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Six Sigma Black Belt Certification or comparable problem solving certification.
- Maintenance equipment and/or TPM experience.
- Knowledge of Management Systems including health and safety, environmental, quality and manufacturing.
