Masis Professional Group is hiring for direct placement opportunities. We are assisting our client in searching for a Production Manager.

The Production Manager will manage workflow, quality and the team’s activities, but you’ll also be running large format printers (flatbed, dye sub and roll to roll), heat press, plotters, laminators and a CNC machine. This means, as a team player, you’re willing to jump in to help whenever needed to make it happen. However, it will be up to you to run an efficient operation and determine how the job gets done… as long as it’s produced safely, on-time, on budget, and at the high level of quality our customers demand. Experience with vinyl graphics, sign fabrication or installations is beneficial, but not necessary. Creative solutions, knowledge of professional touches and detailed finish-work is a must. Leadership:

As a key member of the team, the Production Manager will set high standards for the department. You’ll demonstrate how we hustle, delegate the workload and communicate expectations, day in and day out. The result: Achieving great things for our customers and our Team.

  • Supervise, train, direct and motive production team members.
  • Ensure the Team personifies our Mission and Values, following our policies and standards.

Workflow/ Production & Fabrication Planning:

  • Follow our process, ensuring that the Production crew does as well, without skipping steps.
  • Run weekly WIP (Work in Progress) meeting with Management, the Project Team and Design. Review all current projects/jobs setting deadlines and discussing specifics.
  • Maintain project workflow. Set job specific priorities in keeping with deadlines and client needs. Delegate tasks to team members.
  • Implement and control production schedule on a daily / weekly basis, determined by deadlines and efficiency of runs.
  • Ensure specialty materials have been ordered in a timely manner.
  • Place Purchase Orders for inventory/supplies replenishment.
  • Track and have strong time metrics (with top-of-mind knowledge) for all tasks. Includes: Print runs, CNC operation, lamination, plotting / weeding / transfer taping, finish work.

Safety, Cleanliness and Organization:

  • Work with Safety Officer to ensure that all safety protocols are followed.
  • Stop any unsafe practices immediately.
  • Cleanliness and organization is an essential part of safety.
  • Know how to handle, use and store all chemicals and equipment with potential safety concerns. Develop a good working safety program that includes MSDS sheets, chemical safety (including Install Dept supplies), fire safety, etc.
  • Follow OSHA guidelines
  • Keep a neat and tidy work area. Includes media rolls, substrates, finished product, floors and desktops. Make daily area cleanup an essential and required part of the day for the team.
  • Our Production Department is a key feature that differentiates us from other shops. It MUST always be kept clean and organized.
  • Maintain printers, plotters, and all other equipment on a daily or regular basis. Keep organized records of all production equipment.

Quality:

  • We’re in the detail and aesthetics business. Quality is critical. Don’t wait for the customer to bring quality concerns to Sales or Customer Service’s attention.
  • Quality extends to storage of finished materials, inventory and packaging of product for shipment, delivery or pickup.
  • Package all products for shipment neatly and appropriately so that damage in transit doesn’t occur. (Ensure company label is on the back of all posters and banners when appropriate.
  • Make sure that any outside vendor’s info is not inside a package or on the packing slip.)
  • Work with customers, vendors to troubleshoot vinyl or install failures in the field.
  • Develop a stronger Quality Control process for the Production Department.

Communication:

  • Produce weekly Production Department reports for management
  • Develop annual department plans and budgets
  • Work closely with your Team so they clearly understand deadlines, quality expectations and rationale behind different approaches
  • Build solid working relationships with all departments to keep the channels of communication strong.
  • Be open to suggestions for improvement and confident to voice suggestions for improvement in other departments.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, manufacturers, vendors and other partners
  • Interview and hire candidates for open Production Department positions.
  • Speak directly with clients to ensure all questions are asked and a complete understanding of desired outcome or resolution of concerns is attained.

R&D:

  • Experiment with different printing techniques and materials or mixed combinations.
  • Have some fun and let’s see if we can put what you’ve discovered to good use.
  • Know the best materials to use for a given job. Speak with vendors and manufacturers. Test beforehand.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Competencies:

  • Strong work ethic with upbeat, positive, calm, “can do” attitude and demeanor
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and care for the finished product
  • Exceptional leadership, team building and employee development skills
  • Comfortable (better yet, “enjoyment”) in a fast-paced environment
  • Proactive approach and solutions provider
  • Flexibility to work very limited late or weekend hours when deadlines demand so
  • Ability to be on your feet in the shop and lifting objects 30 pounds
  • Good eye for print quality, color consistency and proofreading
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Proven supervisory or managerial experience (3 years)

Ideal Additional Qualifications (but not required):

Experience in:

  • Print production, large-format printing
  • Large format RIP software
  • Vinyl & digital graphics and signs
  • Operation of plotters, large format printers, and laminators
  • Vinyl graphics installation
  • Customer service / Customer care
