The Mason City Clinic in Mason City, Iowa has an excellent opportunity for a BC/BE Electrophysiologist to join the busy practice of 13 physicians.

The Cardiology Department is looking for an Electrophysiologist to join the practice. cardiology practice that includes inpatient, outpatient, and diagnostic services. 14-county referral base with 250,000 population draw area. Local hospital has physician staffed ED & hospitalist services. Full range of cardiology services including non-invasive, invasive, interventional, and EP working together with cardiac surgery and vascular surgery services. Training opportunities with the cardiology fellowship program. Mercy Medical Center - North Iowa is a level II regional referral trauma center. It is a faith-based, not-for-profit community health care system. The Mercy Health Network spans 14 counties across northern Iowa and consists of a network of 8 rural primary care hospitals, Mercy Clinics, home health agency, hospice, senior services agency, regional referral laboratory, regional rehabilitation and diagnostic technology services, pharmacies, an emergency services network, and a variety of other health care services. 4 state-of-the-art cath labs.

Description of job duties – Electrophysiologist (EP) cardiologist

* Evaluates patients. In doing so, reviews and interprets patient’s health history, conducts physical exam, and reviews laboratory, x-ray, and other test reports to determine diagnosis.

* Based on results of patient’s evaluation, develops and implements treatment plan and provides education to patients.

* Communicates findings and treatment plan to patient, family members if present, and referring physician. Answers questions to ensure complete understanding of information.

* Performs surgical procedures to place pacemakers or cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs).

* Monitors function of pacemaker or ICD through review of monitored data, provides interpretive report, and adjusts system as required for optimal results.

* Recognizes abnormal patient responses to treatment, surgery and/or medication and implements corrective actions as appropriate.

* Documents all aspects of care provided. Completes paperwork necessary to assure payment for services rendered.

* Participates in the outreach clinic schedule as assigned.

* Participates in the call coverage rotation.

* Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate articles, journals, and related material, and by attending seminars, conferences and so forth.

Job requires bending, twisting, lifting, sitting and standing on a regular basis.

Requires fine motor skills and manual dexterity needed for surgical implantation of medical devices.

Approximately 90% of time is spent in direct patient care activities.

Approximately 10% of time is spent in paperwork, equipment, supplies, committee meetings, etc.

All offers contingent upon the successful completion of references, background checks, pre-employment physical, and drug screen.
