As the Director of Retirement Living Food Services, you will be responsible for the administration, planning, coordination, supervision, and management of the Food Services Department of Masonic Village at Sewickley. Responsible to keep in accordance with the home office guidelines and best practices. Identify opportunities for improvement through analysis of data, observation of operations, and consultation with leadership and staff. Collaborate with the quality committee and senior leaders to prioritize and develop QAPI efforts.
Our Director of Retirement Living Food Services is responsible for the following:
- Providing retirement living residents with a consistently positive dining experience characterized by servers who are friendly and attentive, with food that is consistently of a high quality, served in a dining room that is clean and attractive.
- Establishing and maintaining a forum for obtaining feedback from the RL residents in order to achieve and maintain high levels of resident satisfaction. Responding to requests and concerns received from the RLA Board, the Resident Food Committee and from comment cards in a timely manner.
- Overseeing day to day operations to include front and back of the house operations and the Pub. Acting as the Certified Alcohol Manager for MVS.
- Leading the Retirement Living Food Services team and striving to achieve high levels of staff satisfaction and high retention levels. Collaborating with the Human Resources team to fill openings in a timely manner. Hiring staff members who are a good fit for the MV culture. Ensuring the timely completion of annual performance reviews for every staff member. Overseeing training for the RL Food Services Department.
- Working with the Executive Director to develop the annual operating and capital budgets for Retirement Living Food Services. Working with the RL Food Service leadership team to stay on budget with respect to payroll, operating expenses, and the budgeted food cost per meal.
- Overseeing catered events to highlight MVS as a community and to add revenue and income to the RL Food Services department.
- Interfacing with the corporate Senior Director of Food Services to provide input on organization wide Food Service initiatives. Acting as the MVS representative for food service technologies (e.g. point of sale, food purchasing etc..) in order to ensure timely resolution of system issues that arise and timely installation of new products/ systems.
- Ensuring compliance by the RL Food Services team with MV policies and procedures and with state, local and federal regulations.
- Joining the MVS Director Team, reporting directly to the Executive Director. Establishing annual and long range goals for the Food Services team.
- Overseeing and being the main point of reference for centralized purchasing for all campus food services.
What You Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Hospitality Management preferred.
- Serve Safe and RAMP Certification required.
- Five to ten years of experience in Dining Services Management, in a retirement community setting or a Country Club environment.
- Familiar with computer applications (i.e. Word, Excel, data bases, POS Systems) and cash handling.
- Excellent written and oral communication and people skills.
- Alcohol Management certification required.
- Proficiency in managing inventory and ordering of alcoholic beverages & non-food supplies used in Food Services department.
