1. Provide a fun and safe camp environment for participants to thrive in
a. Greet each camper with a welcoming smile and hello
b. Work with the Program manager and delegated assistants to facilitate age-appropriate games, crafts, and activities to provide opportunities for children to be active and engaged
c. Assist in providing opportunities for children to help in planning their own activities
d. Assist in providing time for structured and unstructured play both indoors and out
e. Assist in ensuring all campers are following camp rules to ensure the physical and emotional safety of themselves and others
f. Actively engage in games and activities with campers.
2. Demonstrate competence in the tasks associated with licensure compliance
Ensure that all participants are signed in and out of the program properly
b. Continuously assess the safety of camp spaces and equipment and reports any issues with equipment, facility, or behavior to program manager.
c. Participate in emergency drills giving feedback as to how well it went and what could be improved
3. Provide exemplary communication to summer camp parents and / or guardians
Communicate with parents and guardians daily- getting to know them by name and keeping them abreast on their child’s afternoon.
a. Provide accurate information to parents and guardians in regard to ongoing and upcoming youth programs, aquatics, and supervised youth and adult sports
b. Distribute and collect any necessary paperwork or notifications to parents and guardians.
Qualifications
Experience Minimum Required
Previous experience supervising children
Education Preferred / Desired
College credits in elementary education, human growth and development, behavior management, or recreation management
Special Skills Minimum Required
Must be friendly and outgoing with an enthusiasm for children's programming Must posses exemplary interpersonal skills Must have time and organizational skills
Licensure and / or Certifications Required
First Aid / CPR / AED within 3 months of hire
Licensure and / or Certifications Preferred / Desired
