The Opportunity

We are seeking a program manager who has a passion for healthcare data and will thrive as a member of an experienced, high performing and highly motivated team. This individual will possess a willingness to learn and an ability to adapt to the rapidly changing analytic and reporting needs of our system as well as the rapidly changing technological landscape. The ideal candidate has proven success in developing curated data sets, driving consensus in cross functional teams and possesses strong communication skills.


Reporting to the Director of Clinical Data Solutions, the program manager will partner with business and technical teams to help inform and execute on developing the analytical data platform strategy for Mass General Brigham. This individual will provide oversight and guidance to the cross-functional teams and work closely with the Digital teams responsible for platform capabilities to ensure cross-functional teams are able to successfully deliver their products. These teams will be following agile development principles and will be responsible for defining, delivering, and supporting the curated data products for multiple key areas.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the design, development, and support of the curated data for a number of key areas.
  • Provide technical oversight and direction to cross-functional teams developing the data and reporting assets.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and MGB digital teams to develop a data strategy and plan that addresses business needs (current and emerging).
  • Consolidate requirements from a number of business and MGB digital teams and translate that into what is needed technically to meet the maximum value.
  • Identify and address capacity gaps, skill gaps or other risks to team velocity and capability.
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed service level agreements and are effectively supported.
  • Enabling developers and analysts by understanding their processes and attentively listening to their needs to deliver impactful solutions.

  • Works with managers and directors to establish the team’s goals and objectives, often participating in the definition of work products and timelines.
  • Employs service management, product management and/or project management methodologies to deliver high quality work products.
  • Interacts with clinicians, staff and various levels of management to communicate the status of the team’s efforts.
  • Promotes and encourages a high-quality customer service experience for all customers – internal and external.
  • Collaborates well with other teams to produce results.
  • May work directly with multiple vendors to assure delivery of contracted services and products.
  • May work on several medium to high complexity projects and/or services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Masters’ degree in computer science, engineering, informatics, statistics, or related field and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
  • 5 years of experience working with healthcare data within the enterprise domain you will be supporting.
  • 5 years working with relational databases and query languages
  • 5 years building data pipelines in production and ability to work across structured, semi-structured and unstructured data
  • 5 years data modeling (i.e. star schema, entity-relationship)
  • Working knowledge of Azure, AWS, Snowflake or similar experience is preferred.
  • Experience with programing languages (e.g., SAS, R, and Python) beneficial.
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements

  • Knowledge of agile principles and experience of working on a scrum team is preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including strong customer service orientation and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
