Assistant in Medicine (Hospitalist) - Sought by Massachusetts General Hospital ("MGH") / MGPO, the non-profit physician's organization of MGH, charged with the mission of providing patient care and teaching at MGH, including the training of Harvard Medical School students, to serve as attending in charge of care for patients referred to the Hospital Medicine Unit's service. The Hospital Medicine Unit Service is an inpatient General Medicine service (internal medicine) providing care to inpatient adults.
Responsibilities include:
Examine inpatients, analyze reports and findings of tests and examination, and administer or prescribe treatments and drugs for patients requiring inpatient care.
Determine and communicate plan of care regularly with nurses, specialists, PCPs, social workers, families, etc.
Order and follow-up on appropriate diagnostic tests, reconcile preadmission medications with those at discharge, arrange appropriate follow-up care, and promptly bill for services.
Attend monthly hospital medicine unit business meetings.
Take full responsibility for professional decisions regarding the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Refer inpatients to medical specialist or other practitioners for specialized treatment as indicated.
Work Location: Boston, MA
Nocturnist role only.

Salary Offered: $213, 888.00/year. 40 hours/wk full-time.

Requirements include a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree or equivalent and no work experience.
Must have completed a three-year residency in Internal Medicine. Must be licensed by Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Must possess DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) certification from the Dept. of Justice, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association, and CRS (Controlled Substance Registration) certification from the MA Dept. of Health. Must be certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, or eligible to become certified within one year of hire.
