Job Description:

Research and Data Student Assistant (RDSA) will provide office support with data entry, collection, analysis, and reporting information using various visual tools for campus-wide distribution. RDA will help the office with various research projects. RDSA will support administrative and clerical functions as needed.

The RDSA will also engage in practical research and data science activities through the use of standard principles focused on a social justice framework. This role will use information and translate it into a visual outcome that is easily digestible and consumable. The RDSA will learn how to take a deep dive answering questions and producing meaningful results that are action-driven. Importantly, the RDSA role is an introduction into the professional role of institutional research and effectiveness that has vast potential for different career opportunities.



Requirements:

  • Have an inquisitive, curious, and learner mindset
  • Interested in data and research
  • Committed to helping the office advance its goals and priorities in decision-support using evidence-based information in support of student success and institutional effectiveness
  • Prefer some knowledge of data analytic tools such as Excel, statistical software (e.g., SPSS), and/or access
  • Prefer some knowledge and experience with Tableau or Power BI
  • Prefer some knowledge of visualization tools (e.g., PowerPoint, Adobe, LucidChart, Vizio)
  • Prefer some knowledge of social science research approaches, methodology, and statistical concepts
  • Prefer some knowledge of survey design and use of survey administration (e.g. Qualtrics, Survey Monkey)
  • Prefer some skills or understanding of an office setting to perform administrative and clerical duties
