The Center for Genomic Medicine (CGM) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) is one of the most dynamic hubs of genomics research in the world. The CGM is a large cross-departmental research Center that is focused on solving the genetic causes of human disease. Our community includes almost 50 Harvard and MGH faculty and more than 400 affiliated genomics researchers, and the CGM is a major docking point for faculty and scientists at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. We are seeking a new Grant Administrator to join our team and occupy a critical role in the financial management of the scientific portfolio of the CGM, and to support the overall CGM mission and activities.

The Grant Administrator position will work under the general direction of the Finance Director of the CGM. The Grant Administrator will work directly with the Center's Principal Investigators (PI) to develop grant submissions, manage financial transactions, perform budget forecasting, monitor fund statements, resolve accounting issues, and function as a liaison to grantor agencies and subcontracting institutions. The Grant Administrator will be partnered with specific PIs in the CGM and become acquainted with their teams and overall grant-related activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates grant proposal preparation.
  • .
  • Prepares detailed budgets and justifications. prepares materials for financial reports.
  • .
  • Develops and monitors spending with PI's including salary allocations and purchase commitments. Prebudget as necessary and allowed throughout the grant cycles.
  • .
  • Interacts with MGB Research Finance staff in establishing and monitoring active funds and in terminating expired funds.
  • .
  • Monitors expenditures and assures budgetary compliance. verifies, identifies, and evaluates excessive charges. analyzing cash flow to prevent deficit spending.
  • .
  • Works with the Office of Research, Ventures, and Licensing in the oversight of administrative policies regarding patents and material transfer agreements.
  • .
  • Advise regarding the allowability of costs to be charged to a grant.
  • .
  • Collaborate closely with Research Finance to resolve complex accounting issues.
  • .
  • Coordinates regularly scheduled time/effort reports.
  • .
  • Provides timely closeout of all expired projects through the coordination of fiscal and administrative resources throughout the system.
  • .
  • Stays current with all new and existing regulatory requirements and institutional policies/procedures, keeping PIs and departmental leadership informed of changes.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 1-3 years of relevant administrative or research experience required.

  • Demonstrated financial and/or grants management experience in an academic medicine center is preferred.
