The Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers (League) was founded in 1972 as one of the country's first state Primary Care Associations (PCAs). Established under the same federal authorizing legislation as the health center program (Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act), PCAs are organized around a set of core functions and competencies that provide a framework for support and assistance to health centers and the communities they serve. The League is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization registered as a public charity with the Commonwealth's Secretary of State. It maintains a professional staff at its headquarters in Boston and its training center in Worcester.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Senior Program Manager, the Finance Coordinator will perform a variety of loan accounting functions in connection with the initialization of the MA Repay Loan Program. The contract for the administration of this program was awarded to the MA League in December 2022. The program consists of the management and deployment of over $300M in funding from the MA Executive Office of Health and Human Services. The funding is awarded to healthcare providers and other healthcare professionals who agree to work in designated healthcare environments providing care to underserved populations. The funding will be distributed to Student Loan Servicers to pay down the student loan debt of the awardees.
Essential Functions: (The following is a list of essential functions, which may be subject to change at any time and without advance notice. Management may assign new duties, reassign existing duties, or eliminate a role. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following.)
- Performing loan payment input for loan disbursements.
- Performing input of all disbursement information.
- Create all accounting entries (general ledger, transaction account) related to input of loan payments.
- Daily verification and reconciliation of all loan payments.
- Perform periodic review of loan system data integrity.
- Distribution of daily reports.
- Daily review of all loan information and notices.
- Performs periodic system maintenance.
- Monthly reporting and reconciliation.
- Process all loan participation accounting entries.
- Process Charge-off accounting entries.
Requirements:
- Education: BA/BS in finance or accounting, or 3-5 years of professional relevant experience in accounting, banking, or loan operations.
- High energy and commitment to working in a diverse and multi-cultural team environment.
- Demonstrated support for MLCHC's values, DIB initiatives, social justice, and racial equity.
- Exceptional emotional intelligence and collaboration skills to work with cross-institutional teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and expertise in Excel.
- Experience in the use of accounting and financial software applications, databases, and internal controls.
- Proactive, flexible, responsive, hands-on strategic thinker with vigilant attention to detail.
- Ability to learn and to work independently as well as in a collegial manner, as a team player, is essential.
- Requires exceptional time management and good organizational skills. Accuracy with numbers is necessary.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines and competing priorities.
- Flexibility to respond to periods of high pressure is required.
