As an Underwriting Case Specialist, you will be responsible for obtaining essential medical and non-medical information for completing a life insurance application via a telephone interview providing a service to the client which eliminates their need to complete the interview online. What success looks like.
A successful Tele-App Specialist will have heavy interaction with external clients to obtain the most accurate answers to health, medical, and avocation questions to aide in the completion of the underwriting process. Additionally, the successful candidate will be customer-focused, detail oriented, and efficient. You should be polite, reliable, knowledgeable, and adaptable.
Daily and monthly responsibilities - What your days and weeks will include.
- Schedules and conducts phone interviews with clients to obtain information to complete life insurance applications. Interviews include Personal Health and Supplemental Health Questions including detailed medical and nonmedical questions.
- Results driven, ability to think critically with solid listening and probing skills
- Maintains effective communication with advisors, members of Underwriting and New Business
- Supports advisors with any questions they have regarding forms/procedures/process
- Responding efficiently and accurately to callers, and ensuring that client’s feel supported and valued
- Engaging in active listening with callers, confirming or clarifying information and diffusing angry clients, as needed
- Utilizing software, databases, scripts, and tools appropriately
- Understanding and striving to meet or exceed call center metrics while providing excellent consistent customer service
Required skills and qualifications - The qualifications that are needed for this role:
- 1 years of experience in the life insurance industry or with similar work experience that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this position
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
Must be available to work during the following timeframe: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm EST (multiple shifts)
Preferred qualifications - Additional skills that make you a great fit:
- College Degree or 2 years previous insurance experience
- Medical background
- A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting and/or exceeding performance expectations
- Strong customer service experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Drives performance targets to completion
