Overview
POSITION PURPOSE Responsible for effective coordination of recruiting, employee relations and staff development functions including: administering HR policies, programs & special projects coordinating employee relations activities and programs assessing, evaluating & analyzing site compliance to policies, procedures and government regulations. Supports HR's initiative in providing timely customer service to local business partners ESSENTIAL DUTIES 1. Provides coaching, training, and counseling pertaining to various aspects of human resources (e.g., recruiting, performance improvement, sexual harassment, discrimination, diversity, legal/employment issues, union avoidance) to ensure complete understanding of potential benefits/issues and appropriate actions are taken.2. Educates management and employees regarding disciplinary actions, moves and terminations to ensure complete documentation and compliance with company guidelines.3. Monitors effectiveness of human resources programs with an eye on continuous improvements by traveling regularly to assigned regional locations and partnering with management.4. Assists Director, Employee Relations to investigate local complaints and employee relations issues and ensures findings are documented and recommendations on remedial actions are made to management as required. Ensures all terminations for cause are reviewed and approved as well as5. timely completion of termination reports on all terminations. 6. Works with Corporate HR and Legal to gather data/information relevant to employment and discrimination claims, charges, or cases to facilitate prompt resolution.7. Coordinates the responses to unemployment claims, ensuring documentation/response is correct, complete, and timely to protect company's interests.8. Participates in human resources projects and initiatives to ensure successful and timely implementation.9. Assists other team members in supporting, organizing and executing departmental projects related to the efficient and compliant operation of the HR Department.10. Responds to human resources related questions and issues from management and employees (e.g., performance, discipline, termination, etc.) to ensure accurate and consistent interpretation and application of policies and procedures and to maintain compliance with employment law and regulations.11. Determines how to maximize the employee experience by conducting surveys, forming focus groups, analyzing responses and developing and implementing solutions.12. Coordinates performance review process with managers and reviews and provides feedback to managers on performance reviews.13. Conducts and/or facilitates various training courses initiated by the Human Resources department (e.g. union avoidance, wage and hour compliance, supervisor training, etc.).14. Tracks employee relations and development activities. OTHER DUTIES 1. Supports the Company safety initiatives and brings to the attention of the Regional Safety team any safety concerns.2. Performs general clerical work such as filing, copying, mailing, etc.3. Provides backup to other team members as necessary.4. Performs other duties as assigned. Experience Minimum of three (3) years ongoing human resources experience required, including experience working with all levels of staff including Exempt and Non-Exempt, union and non-union. Minimum Pay: $48,800Midpoint Pay: $61,000Maximum Pay: $73,200 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY No supervisory responsibility. WORKING CONDITIONS Works in a normal office environment and travels an average of5%. Does not require physical activity other than that typically utilized in such a setting, working with standard office equipment (such as phone, fax and personal computer). Availability, willingness and flexibility to travel by auto or commercial airlines up to 5 percent of the time. Overtime and work on the weekends is possible and may be expected in order to perform the essential functions of the position.
