What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transport Driver position at MasTec Inc?
Overview
Responsible for to transporting several types of construction equipment and materials to and from jobsites and back to the shop and storage yard locations.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload equipment and materials
- Secure loads, is aware of load limits (weights)
- Vehicle and equipment maintenance
- Haul counterweights for cranes
- Haul miscellaneous construction equipment from 80,000 GVRW to 260,000 GRVW
- Be able to safely operate 4-9 axle trailer configurations
- Ensure safety procedures are adhered to at all times
- Communicate equipment and material issues between the office/shop/jobsite
- Daily inspection of truck
- Obtain required permits with the help of the Transportation Specialist
- Maintain a safe driving record
- Handle basic maintenance of the truck including filling tank with gas, checking oil, keeping it clean and making sure required inspections are performed
- Advise Shop Manager if trucks need major repairs and maintenance
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- One year certificate from college or technical school preferred
- 5 or more years of experience with transporting construction equipment and materials required; 10 years of experience preferred
- Previous experience with 4-9 axle trailer configurations
- Previous experience with 4 axle heavy haul truck
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, Double/triple endorsement
Working Environment:
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places and extreme heat
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
