Job Summary
The Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heavy equipment and vehicles. This position supports the Construction team and works with personnel within the department.
Responsibilities
- Inspect and repair company equipment, such as pickup trucks, line trucks, trailers, mini excavators, backhoes, compressors, and generators, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Perform road tests and operational checks of vehicles and equipment to ensure quality of repairs and service.
- Place orders for required parts, materials, and supplies, as required.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Monitor prioritized projects, activities, and assignments to ensure completion of deadlines.
- Maintain tools, supplies, and workstations in a clean, safe and presentable manner.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned
Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Knowledge of vehicle and equipment repairs, preventative maintenance, and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of safety guidelines and procedures.
- Ability to do tune-ups, brake jobs (hydraulic), and basic wiring.
- Basic diesel and drive train experience.
- Ability to use cutting torch and basic welding skills.
- Knowledge of minor heavy equipment repairs.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Precise hand-eye coordination.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 or more years of experience.
- DOT Certified Flagger.
- CDL Class A license.
