Job Summary
The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for maintaining the accounts receivable records for the organization through payment application and other clerical accounting tasks.
This position supports the Accounting team and works with other personnel from all departments.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve payment records from bank statements and apply payments received from customers to outstanding invoices on a daily basis.
- Monitor and follow-up with field offices on all payment discrepancies until variances have been resolved.
- Review and enter change memos into the system submitted by field offices.
- Provide invoice numbers to approved requestors for manual billing.
- Order office supplies when needed for the accounting office and other duties assigned by the Accounting Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as required and / or assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum
- High school diploma, or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience in Accounting.
- Strong organizational and data entry skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- General math skills, with the ability to perform accurate computations and verification of data.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to operate the computerized accounting and spreadsheet programs.
- Knowledge of general accounting principles, regulatory standards, and compliance requirements.
Preferred
- Associate degree in Accounting or Business.
- 3 or more years of experience in Accounting.
- Extensive knowledge of GL coding and strong decision-making / analytical skills.
- Experience in the construction industry.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.

This position is primarily sedentary, with some filing or lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
