Responsibilities
Job Summary
- Support the training and coaching of Gas Laborer/Groundman staff.
- Gather materials for the job that day and make sure the crew has everything required.
- Distribute and monitor use of material at job site.
- Hand locate existing utilities.
- Hand grade landscape areas.
- Safely operate equipment, such as rubber-tired backhoe, skid steer loader, directional drill, trencher, asphalt paving machine, etc.
- Utilize equipment after the Operator digs the ditch line for gas mains, both new and existing.
- Lift heavy natural gas pipelines for installation, when needed.
- Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- A High School Diploma, or equivalent.
- 2 years of related experience.
- CDL Class A driver’s license.
- Ability to identify hardware for aerial work.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more and 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Precise hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
- Ability to operate equipment.
- Ability to be aware of surroundings.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 or more years of relevant experience.
- Previous lead or supervisory experience in pipeline construction and/or gas utility industries.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
