In this key role, the Project Engineer will provide technical oversight across multiple disciplines, including structures, piping, naval architecture, and/or electrical engineering. Responsible for driving the successful execution of complex engineering projects. This role will play a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to quality standards, project scope, schedule, and budget.
Duties/Responsibilities
This role requires frequent visits to the shipyard on an almost daily basis, involving walking and navigating various areas of the shipyard, including production areas, construction sites, and administrative offices.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Multi-disciplinary Oversight: Provide technical oversight across multiple disciplines, including structures, piping, naval architecture, and/or electrical engineering, ensuring integration and alignment of project deliverables.
- Project Leadership: Lead the execution of complex engineering projects from conception to completion, conducting technical studies, defining project requirements, and monitoring progress to ensure adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Team Coordination: Coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers and other stakeholders, to ensure effective communication and alignment of project objectives.
- Requirements Management: Define, generate, and review project requirements documentation within defined scope, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project objectives.
- Issue Resolution and Process Improvement: Proactively identify and address engineering, material, and planning issues, implementing improved engineering processes to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.
- Experience in identifying and anticipating design/production work sequence conflicts.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Demonstrated knowledge of scheduling, with the ability to monitor progress and adhere to strict deadlines.
- Computer literate and proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office products, and other relevant engineering software tools.
- Ensure vessel design and construction complies with all relevant industry regulations.
- Strong working knowledge of USCG and ABS requirements.
- Strong understanding of shipbuilding production processes, including build strategies, critical path analysis, and production milestones.
- Familiarity with structures, piping, naval architecture, and/or electrical engineering principles and practices.
- Oversees and directs the work of assigned Engineering personnel to related projects.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in shipyard design and large ship construction, or as a Cognizant Engineer over multiple systems, or similar large-scale engineering design projects (e.g., offshore platforms).
- Proficient in MS Office products
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
- Familiarity with project management tools and software.
