What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr. Product Manager position at Master Lock Company?
This role will work from our Oak Creek, Wisconsin office on Tuesdays, with additional in-office days as needed to support collaboration, key meetings etc.
The Sr. Product Manager - Retail Security is the champion for assigned product categories and plays a pivotal role managing their portfolio as a business. To this end the ability to analyze, draw conclusions, create successful strategies, build a narrative around that strategy, and influence multiple departments internally and customers and end-users externally are necessary for success.
- Develop long range strategic plans with annual updates for product, channel, process and business opportunities as needed. Focus needs to be on leveraging existing and creating new protected value.
- Plan and manage new product development, launch and sustain growth. Develop NPD objectives, strategies and timelines to maximize market share growth and profitability.
- Drive category captain leadership with our external customers/partners/distributors by leveraging analytics/insights for our markets, end users & channels. Collaborate with sales, finance and revenue growth management teams to execute product line reviews and assortment updates.
- Deliver P&L for assigned product categories.
- Manage the full lifecycle for assigned portfolio from NPD through discontinuation and residual inventory disposition.
- Leverage market research and consumer understanding to verify new product features, willingness to pay, positioning, purchase triggers, and decision making. Market research spans qualitative and quantitative from customer VOC to segmentation studies to concept testing and field trials.
- Plan product line pricing, pricing strategy and manage profitability in line with business objectives.
- Collaborate with Brand Marketing to identify needs for and development of sales collateral, public relations and advertising activities.
- Train internal and external customers on products, marketing programs and business developments. Communicate regularly with field sales associates, travel routinely to key accounts and end users.
- Respond to daily customer and field sales inquiries, requests, and concerns.
- Develop library and database of relevant markets and competitors and complimentary offerings, identify and assess potential acquisitions.
- A BBA or BE degree is required. An MBA with a concentration in marketing is highly desirable.
- Practical knowledge of new product development tools
- Experience driving eCommerce and omnichannel marketing is highly desirable.
- Requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in product management, marketing or engineering, preferably in a manufacturing and/or consumer durables setting.
- Ability to interpret and leverage insights from pro forma and other financial reports is required.
- End user focused experience is highly desired.
- Should have excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation and MS Office suite skills.
- Occasional travel required (up to 15%).
