Description
SUMMARY
Responsible for planning, developing, and facilitating the recruitment, enrollment process, initial testing, retention strategies and supports, and job placements for students in the food service training program. Supports clients in overcoming barriers to training and employment.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Recruitment: Conducts community outreach and student recruitment. Actively engages with outside agencies to ensure a steady stream of student candidate referrals in accordance with program goals and standards. Directly recruits new candidates from the community and builds strong agency partner relationships.
- Enrollment: Processes applications, coordinates applicant testing, selects students, and completes all enrollment actions, including: orientation, intake, initial assessment, goal setting and all related enrollment paperwork and data entry. Assists with coordinating Challenge Week activities in collaboration with Training Chef and SVDP Enterprises staff.
- Program Coordination: Maintains internal and external communication to ensure smooth and effective program functioning. Monitor students’ adherence to the Code of Conduct and program guidelines. Maintains overall integrity of the program and program standards.
- Data and Performance Tracking: Works closely with Training Chef to track student attendance and performance and address issues. Performs data entry and uses data system to produce relevant reporting. Responsible for all documentation including: record keeping, student charts, filing, tracking outcomes, and retention of participants. Submits monthly reports on outcomes and activities and progress on achieving program goals.
- Student Supports: Monitors and manages the transportation assistance and other student supports. Provides retention assistance according to needs and program polices and guidelines. Maintains a high level of professionalism and ethical conduct regarding confidentiality, relationships, and student interactions. Works closely with other staff to identify and assist students to overcome barriers to training and employment.
- Job Placement : Identifies potential employers for students and maintains key employer relationships. Provides one-on-one job coaching sessions during the last phase of the program to support job identification and application assistance.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings. In addition, attends workshops, seminars and training to enhance professional development.
- Maintains active networking with referral agencies and other employment training managers.
- Assists with and attends special events as necessary of St. Vincent de Paul Enterprises and St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
- Upholds the vision, mission and values of St. Vincent de Paul Enterprises and St. Vincent de Paul of Baltimore.
- Attends all meetings as required/directed.
- Supports a welcoming and positive environment for students and works with them effectively.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in career development and/or workforce development field.
- Cultural understanding, including the ability to relate in a courteous, comfortable, non-judgmental or patronizing manner with persons of all socio-economic and religious backgrounds
- Proven experience working with hard-to-employ population.
- Effective communication skills (oral & written), computer literacy.
- Willing and able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and some weekends.
