Overview
This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the MasterCorp Commercial Services accounting department, including both Senior and Staff Accountants inclusive of their daily operations within the shared services environment. An individual in this role is expected to have a strong sense of ownership, ability to identify process improvement opportunities, and have an excellent knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include reviewing balance sheet accounts, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures for multiple line of businesses. A successful Accounting Manager will establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
- Minimum of six (6) years of full-time work experience directly related to the role.
- CPA Preferred

- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Essential Functions

- Prepare, examine, and analyze monthly financial statements and its accounting records as well as providing a summary of findings.
- Produce accounting reports and present their results.
- Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to project future revenues and expenses.
- Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
- Manage accounting team in their day-to-day operations, including assignment of work, coaching, communicating job expectations, monitoring and appraising job contributions, and enforcing policies/procedures
- Understand the requirements of US GAAP, including the issuance of new standards and their impact.
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions as needed.
- Effectively handle and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
- Support month-end and year-end close process.
- Reconcile financial discrepancies by collection and analyzing account information.
- Prepare monthly closing journal entries.
- Prepare monthly general ledger (GL) account reconciliations to identify discrepancies.
- Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company procedures.
