POSITION SUMMARY
Business Systems Analyst Acts as a liaison between IT and the business to elicit, document, analyze and validate requirements for new systems and enhancement of existing systems. Analyzes business processes/problems to be solved with automated systems. Identifies gaps and provides expertise in business requirements for system specifications and scales new and current systems, processes, and procedures in a cost-effective manner. The business systems analyst (BSA) works closely with business stakeholders, technology teams and strategic third party partners to create both experience and technical requirements for rich features and functionality to support our customer experience. Translating business strategy into feature/project requirements is a specialty of this role.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Analysis Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, and procedures. Applies and monitors the use of modeling and analysis tools, methods, and standards, giving special consideration to business perspectives. Collaborates with stakeholders at all levels, in the conduct of investigations for business requirements specifications. Prepares business cases that define potential benefits, options for achieving these benefits through the development of new or changed processes, systems, and associated business risks.
Requirements Definition and Testing Facilitates scoping and business priority setting for large or complex changes, engaging senior stakeholders as required. Selects the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative. Drives the requirements elicitation process where necessary, identifying what stakeholder input is required. Obtains formal agreement from a large and diverse range of potentially senior stakeholders and recipients to the scope and requirements, plus the establishment of a baseline on which delivery of a solution can commence. Takes responsibility for the investigation and application of changes to program scope. Identifies the impact on business requirements of external impacts affecting a program or project. Creates and executes test plans. Coordinates and facilitates user acceptance testing.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, or other related field or equivalent experience.
Experience Typically five or more years in a related field. Preferred experience in or knowledge of the specific line of business and/or IT environment
