What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment Associate position at Masuda Funai?
Masuda Funai, a mid-sized law firm in Chicago, is currently looking for an associate with at least 3-5 years of employment litigation experience representing employers on a broad range of employment issues including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, breach of restrictive covenants, and wage and hour disputes. Some traditional labor experience, including the representation of employers in matters involving unfair labor practices, employee misconduct discipline, collective bargaining, and labor arbitrations is desired. The associate will also assist the Litigation Group with commercial litigation matters, as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed and in good standing in the State of Illinois and/or the State of California and able to obtain admission on a “Pro Hac Vice” basis in other U.S. states where client litigation is pending. Admission to trial bar of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division is a plus
- 3 to 5 years of employment litigation experience
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Superior verbal and written communication skills
- Thorough understanding of applicable laws
- Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to multi-task
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced work environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
