Ardent Equestrian is looking for a Barn Manager to join our team!
The Barn Manager is responsible to oversee the proper care of horses and supervise employees/volunteers. They are responsible for ground maintenance and upkeep of the barn. The Barn Manager must be highly skilled in all aspects of horsemanship and possess a solid working knowledge of basic medical treatments, equine nutritional needs, and equine behavioral management techniques.
The Barn Manager is responsible to cover staffing of the barn seven days a week and on holidays. Coverage is provided through the Barn Manager position itself along with part-time stable hands. The Barn Manger is responsible for scheduling stable hands and ensuring the barn has appropriate staff coverage at all times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage completion of daily chores on chore check list with stable hands
- Participate in daily chores as needed (including daily feeding, blanketing, turnout, etc.)
- Supervise and train barn staff
- Manage Employee schedule
- Handle & train young horses (including grooming and tacking)
- Drive Truck/Trailer to and from local shows/veterinarian
- Complete administrative duties related to liability waivers and any other necessary barn paperwork
- Handle the schedule of routine and emergency veterinarian visits and farrier visits
- Administer IM/IV medication as needed (Eye drops, oral meds, etc.…)
- Assist with veterinarian treatments
- Grooming/Braiding as needed
- Wrapping & Bandaging
- Warming-up, exercising, training horses (depending upon skill level)
- Barn Maintenance & Upkeep (Stall, Pasture & Paddock Cleaning required)
- Ordering supplies, equipment, and feed
- Hay Management & Ordering
- Manure Management
- Pasture Management
- Maintain Indoor Arena and water/drag footing
- Coordinate repair of broken fence boards, equipment such as automatic waters, etc.
- Communicate with property owners effectively and responsibly
- Other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/EDUCATION
- Minimum age 21
- 2 years barn management experience or equivalent equine industry experience
- Ability to be on your feet for 8 hours a day
- Ability to lift and transport weights from 10lbs – 50lbs without issue
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions

- Responsible work ethic
- Fitness and Stamina are required and important to keep up with the physical demands of the position
- High School Diploma or equivalent/Equine Studies or Equine Certification preferred
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $12.00 - $16.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
