What will I do?
You will supervise the daily financial and accounting activities of MRS, including maintaining the general ledger, banking activities, accounts payable/receivables, monthly financial report preparation, detail budgets and cash flow forecasting. Assisting in providing financial risk management through strong internal controls while providing leadership and management with key financial information will be integral to your role.
· Assist with budget and cash flow projects; prepare detailed budgets by department/functional area.
· Oversee the Association Management Software database for accuracy of financial transactions, and daily web order processing.
· Provide Symposium Funding activities oversight to include communication with volunteers, volunteer fundraising efforts, government grant spending, and maintenance of individual symposium budgets and related documentation.
· Assist with meeting registration processes (online and onsite) and supervise all cash receipt functions associated with MRS meetings, including reconciliation of registration payments.
· Assist with fieldwork for the annual external audit; assist with preparation of the Society’s IRS Form 990/990T and other state miscellaneous tax filings.
· Coordinate year-end financial and compliance reporting including 1099 preparation and distribution.
· Supervise the Associate Accountant and interact with key stakeholders regularly.
What will make you a great fit:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
· Five (5) or more years of demonstrated experience in accounting and finance working with general ledger accounting systems, budgets, financial statements, banking, internal controls, etc.
· At least two (2) years’ of experience working with non-profit organizations to include knowledge of U.S. GAAP in a non-profit environment
· Experience supervising staff and leading a team; proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion
· Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP is preferred; along with the ability to learn additional software as required
· Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel; Proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, and PowerPoint
· Excellent financial and business acumen; sound judgement and strong reasoning skills
· Strong project management skills; ability to thrive managing multiple priorities and projects
· Team building and leadership talent with excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
· Ability to travel 10% annually both national and international
