As a key member of Lorain’s operations and maintenance team, the Electrical Technician is responsible and accountable for performing the electrical duties required to install, repair, and proactively maintain machinery, equipment, utilities, and building facility. The job will require a broad knowledge of maintenance skills including electrical troubleshooting and repair of equipment, using complex electrical tools, minor mechanical troubleshooting and repair of equipment, and use of various computer software. Emphasis on electrical skills to include PLC programming, motor drives and controllers, and logic controls. Given the facility’s small size, Electrical Technician will partner with the Mechanical Technician for jobs requiring 2 maintenance technicians.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Installs, troubleshoots, and proactively maintains all operating electrical systems and equipment at facility. This includes but is not limited to: electric induction melting furnace components (coil, lining, and lead hoses), plant control systems, I/O devices, gauging hardware/software, PLC's, motor drives, and logic control devices.
- Installs, troubleshoots, and proactively maintains all electrical infrastructure equipment at facility. This includes, but is not limited to: buildings and grounds, machinery and vehicles, lighting, HVAC, air make-up units, baghouses, water treatment, and sanitation.
- Analyze and diagnose electrical machine malfunctions and operating difficulties to their root cause. Make necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Perform advanced electrical functions including: Installation of breaker panels, buss connections, transformers, motor starter circuits and Troubleshooting all voltage and phase systems
- Rebuild machines and overhaul troublesome components as necessary to ensure the equipment's optimal reliability strategy.
- Lead maintenance technicians in troubleshooting electrical problems with equipment and processes.
- Aid in the design and/or re-design of various electrical equipment, utilities, and necessary safety or quality enhancements.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of industrial electrical maintenance or relevant military experience.
- A completed approved four-year apprentice program will also be considered.
- Good basic computer skills are a requirement (MS Word, Excel, Outlook).
Desired Experience:
- 2-year degree in electrical controls or electronics desirable.
- Experience with Analog & Digital Controls (electronic & pneumatic) pressure, level, temperature flow Environmental Measurement: NO2, SO2, Opacity and CO2 desirable.
- Experience with Microprocessor Based Instrumentation & PLC systems (Allen Bradley, Delta V, & Honeywell) desirable.
- Experience with Water Chemistry, Monitoring: pH controls, Silica, Conductivity, Density & Controls AC/DC & Solid-State Theory Test Equipment & Troubleshooting desirable.
- CMMS experience is desirable.
- Experience troubleshooting rolling mills desirable.
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
