Position Title: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Neenah, WI

Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team at the Neenah Mill and Converting Centers located in Neenah, WI. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Maintenance and Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for all assigned activities including, but not limited to, providing definition and execution of capital projects in accordance with the desired costs, and quality and performance objectives within areas of expertise.

 

Safety

  • Exercise personal leadership to provide an environment that puts a priority on providing a safe and healthy workplace for employees and contractors.
  • Execute capital projects and other significant facility changes / improvements while impacting safety in the facility in a positive manner.
  • Ensure safety is designed into all equipment additions and modifications.
  • Ensure that equipment installations are completed in a safe manner and that proper safety reviews are conducted and loss control risks are addressed.
  • Maintain and improve the facilities regulatory compliance.
  • Provide support to the LCMS 3.0 Team and Leadership in the development and implementation of element 3.3 - rules, permitting and licensing.

Capital Project Execution

  • Development and execute capital projects to:
    • Support strategic initiatives
    • Reduce costs
    • Sustain and improve operations from a safety, reliability and environmental standpoint
  • Execute capital projects ensuring successful achievement of facility objectives.
  • Abide by the spirit of all identified industry safety guidelines, mandates, regulations, and laws.
  • Influence project execution and activity to support spending targets.
  • Manage 3rd party engineering as utilized to expedite project initiatives.

Costs

  • Support the development and implementation of cost improvement plans and programs that ensure a profitable manufacturing facility.
  • Provide engineering support to assist in the maximization of asset TPD, Yield, Uptime, and COM targets.
  • Include energy and cost effectiveness in the design of all equipment additions and modifications.

 Facility Support

  • Provide technical support as needed to facilitate the safety and success of other mill teams.

 

Successful candidates will have three to five years of mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Supervisory experience and a proven track history of successful engineering and project management implementation are also desired. Paper Mill and manufacturing experience is beneficial.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • Applicable relevant engineering experience required.
  • Leading metrics development and continuous improvement experience required.
  • Previous engineering supervisory experience in manufacturing plant setting required; paper mill operations is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills; experience with customer/vendor interactions; ideally collaborating with others to help define needs, identify solutions and resolve problems.
  • Enjoys working with and collaborating with members of other business unit teams.
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems and develop mechanical solutions to improve process/asset productivity/safety.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, mathematical proficiency, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with a take-charge attitude and an understanding of personnel management techniques.
  • Understanding of activities and procedures required for efficient and quality work completion.
  • Strong computer skills including, but not limited to a working knowledge of AutoCad, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
  • Experience with Oracle is very helpful. Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced production setting.
