Daycare Cook

We are looking to hire an attentive individual to cook lunch daily for our child care center. During the school year normal hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily cooking for about 20 preschoolers. Occasionally we have two lunches when school are closed and we cook for about 30 students.

In total, requires 15 hours of work each week, great for someone who wants to pick up some extra money. In addition, if you love kids and love Jesus this could also be combined with a before and after teaching position for additional hours each week or could be a stand alone position.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission of Matoaca Child Development Center
• Confirm a strong Christian belief and exhibit such in his her/her teaching, personal, and professional decision making
• Complete and pass a physical and TB skin test prior to hire
• Wear hairnet or hat while in the kitchen
• Prepare monthly menus
• Work with Administration Team for approval
• Prepare lunch and afternoon snack boxes for all classrooms
• Serve meals to each class on time, at the appropriate temperature
• Work with staff to collect meal numbers before food preparation of each meal
• Make weekly food orders
• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, including all food storage areas
• Make sure all thermometers are working properly
• Ensure all food items are checked for expiration dates
• Wash and sanitize all dishes
• Clean the entire kitchen and appliances throughout the day
• Remove trash and recyclables daily
• Organize and put away all groceries, food orders and non-food items
• Serve Safe Training is preferred
• Be able to lift up to 20 pounds
• Have appropriate experience working with children
• Provide a warm, loving, and safe atmosphere for students
• Pass a background check
• Attend and complete at least 16 hours of training per year (paid for by employer)
• Complete and maintain CPR Certification (paid for by employer)
• Adhere to all state requirements regarding subsidized and religious exempt child care centers
• Attend and contribute to monthly staff meetings
• Perform any other duties as directed by the administrator or director
• Build positive relationships and communicate in a respectful manner with families, children, team members, administration, committee, and the communities in which we serve

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $12.00 - $14.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 per week
