We are currently seeking Night Bakers for our various remote Canadian project locations!
Responsibilities:
- Prepare buffet breakfast with “daily special” and eggs to order
- Prepare baked goods and desserts from scratch (cookies, square pies etc.)
- Bake a variety of bread and buns from scratch
- Support First Cook in developing menus and grocery order process.
- Receive and organize grocery inventory as per First Cook direction.
- Practice the “first in first out” rotation procedures to support food inventory control.
- Participate in a Food Safety Plan using advanced HACCP recording methods.
- Execute safe food storage and labeling of potential food allergy items.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
- Support monthly worksite inspections as it relates to the kitchen facilities.
- Performs tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures.
- Notify first cook of unsafe practices and unsafe environment.
- Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
- Practice good housekeeping in the work area at all times.
- Support first cook with coaching and training to other kitchen staff.
- Actively participate as a high performing, team member.
Required Knowledge & Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year working in a similar baking/catering high volume position.
- Organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Basic computer skills.
- Highly motivated, team-oriented individual.
- Ability to work a rotation schedule.
- Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Ability to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 10 - 12 hour shift.
- Comfortable working alone at night.
Preferred Licensing & Certifications:
- Culinary Diploma or Red Seal designation.
- WHMIS
- Standard First Aid with CPR (16hr course)
- Safe Food Handling Certificate within the last 5yrs
- Previous experience working in remote camp setting.
