We are looking for a self-driven, energetic Mechanical Engineer with a growth mindset to join our team to develop long-term customer relationships through delivering successful Process-Mechanical engineering projects. The primary role of the Process Engineer position is to work directly with Clients, Project Managers and other discipline leads to design the best, most efficient, most client cost-effective process-mechanical layouts and designs possible.
Do you have experience designing Industrial process systems or designing full production/packaging lines utilizing OEM equipment? The Process Engineer will be responsible for leading customer processing, manufacturing or packaging projects including the specification of mechanical equipment, coordination with vendors, modeling of OEM equipment, coordinating the design of fabricated parts and equipment, design of specialized packaging equipment, design of existing equipment mechanical upgrades, layout of mechanical processing equipment in facilities, utility piping as required for equipment or process, and drawing production upon completion of design.

The Process-Mechanical Engineer position requires a fully competent engineer to lead projects and project teams. The Engineer will apply diverse knowledge of engineering principles, specific packaging industry practice, material handling practices, and process engineering knowledge in broad areas of assignment. This employee will plan, develop, and direct one large engineering project or a number of small projects, usually coordinating the work of less experienced engineers, technical assistants, and drafters.

Create solutions to real-world issues that help our customers grow. You will serve as the client-facing subject matter expert in a broad range of industrial Manufacturing or Packaging system designs. This is a fast paced and exciting position that will require you to maintain existing client relationships as well as develop new project opportunities.
Lead a project team and manage a project from concept through implementation. You will conduct pre-project review meetings and project review meetings to insure total project awareness, supervise and direct assigned project personnel, and control projects including productivity, budgets, project changes, and adherence to predefined scope of services. Additionally, you will be expected to provide technical expertise, facilitate coordination, and facilitate office and field checking.

Additional engagements to be expected in the role include:
- Write project construction specifications and prepare bid packages.
- Provide work format conducive to a learning experience for subordinate personnel.
- Work with Department Manager to implement methods to improve departmental efficiency. Coordinate integration requirements for software and machine controls, including development of P&IDs.
- Coordinate multi-discipline installation requirements for facilities and utilities.
- Specify and layout processing equipment, including dust collection, air conveyance, screw and belt conveyors, bins, tanks, mills, screeners, chutes and transitions.
- Specify and layout packaging equipment, product conveyors and finished case conveyors utilizing Lean principles.
- Solicit equipment quotations, review and make recommendations as the client representative.
- Lead the production of clear design and construction packages, including Layouts and Detail Drawings, Equipment Lists and BOMs, and Scopes of Work.
- Lead contractor bid walks, evaluate bids, and make recommendations as the client representative.
- Develop budgets and proposals for design engineering services, as well as overall capital project schedules and cost estimates.
- Provide onsite construction assistance to the Construction Manager on an as-needed basis.

- Four-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited school.
- 7 years of engineering experience.
- Dust collection, food processing, bulk material handling, air conveyance and related Process-Mechanical system experience.
- High volume automated packaging process experience as either an end user or equipment supplier in the Food, Beverage, CPG or Pharmaceutical industries (preferred).
- Works safely at all times.
- Proficient with AutoCAD 2D.
- Proficient with overall packaging line process design to meet the client URS, including the development of Block Diagrams, PFDs and V-Graphs (preferred).
- Proficient with Industrial Processing designs and specifications.
- Proficiency in documenting User Requirement Specifications (URS) including the performance, materials and methods for filling, secondary packaging, and end of line equipment, as well as product labeling, inspection and identification.
- Working knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, PMMI and NFPA safety standards.
- Working knowledge of FDA, USDA, 3-A, and DiSCUS standards
- Proficient with 3-Dimensional design, AutoCAD 3D, Solidworks, 3D Point Clouds.
- Discrete Event Simulation experience a plus.
- Ability to travel locally or travel to alternate work sites will be required to support Matrix clients and projects.
- Ability to occasionally travel overnight will be required to support Matrix clients and projects.

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications, ranging from $80,000 to $90,000 annually. The final salary will be determined based on various factors including candidate's experience and qualifications.
