Position Summary
The Project Manager is the experienced project leadership in the Project Management Department. The Project Manager provides overall management direction, plan, develop, coordinate, and manage construction activities for a large project or several small to medium sized projects while developing new business opportunities.
Requirements include:
- Extensive (ten or more years) experience/knowledge of construction, design, finance, and management required.
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
- Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities vital; superior communication and interpersonal essential.
- Makes decisions and recommendations which can greatly impact corporate relationship with Client and project profitability. Acts without close supervision. Proven experience and judgement.
Duties will include but is not limited to the following:
1. Plan, organize and staff key field positions through supervising manager.
2. Interface all departments as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction in support of overall project schedule.
3. Supervise total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule. Includes interfacing with client representatives, AE representatives, other contractors.
4. Monitor/control construction through administrative direction of on-site Superintendent to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget; investigate potentially serious situations and implement corrective measures.
5. Represent company in project meetings and maintain upmost positive and professional representation of company.
6. Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect company’s interest and simultaneously maintain good relationship with Client.
7. When required, assess scopes of work and resources required to successfully complete revised/added scopes and prepare complete estimate for change orders with detailed review of proposal specifications, drawings, takeoff information, contracting, and the like.
8. Plan, coordinate and supervise onsite functions.
9. Supervise craft employees and/or other contractors as required by the contract.
10. Provide technical assistance such as interpretation of drawings, recommending construction methods and equipment as required.
11. Assume responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials & equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
12. Perform additional assignments per Supervisor’s direction.

5. Creative Thinking - Developing innovative solutions and thinking creatively is important in all departments. It can relate to using brainstorm ideas or looking at something from a different perspective.

This may include influencing budget managers to take greater control of their finances or persuading a member of the team to change an approach or behavior that is negatively impacting on performance. If you want to effectively persuade and influence people in a business, you should clearly define what you expect, plan and listen carefully to those you are communicating.

Supervisor Responsibility
This position may manage employees of the Project Management Department and is responsible for the performance management of assigned employees.
