The ideal candidate for this position has had prior experience in a fine dining food setting. This candidate will be responsible for the pastry program needs for Max's Oyster Bar in West Hartford Center. Max's Oyster Bar is one of our busiest locations which caters to guests who prefer seafood driven dining at its best. Additional culinary training/coursework is a preferred. Commitment to the customers, reliable to his or her co-workers, and be a self-motivated, organized, and detailed individual is a must. Effective oral and written skills, good time management skills, and professional dress, and behavior are all required for this position.
The Pastry Chef will work independently, with the input of the Executive Chef and Managing Partner to provide a creative culinary experience for our guests while following the food and safety procedures of the restaurant. The pastry chef will be responsible for but not limited to: all house made desserts, house made oyster crackers and specialty desserts for private events. The candidate will have a passion for creativity and work with local farmers to secure seasonal ingredients used in the dishes. Ability to work independently, with little direction and produce high quality, flavorful and unique items for the menu is critical to the success of the pastry program. Manage the Pastry menu allowing changes during the different seasons. Experimenting with items to create new wave dishes that compliment the Chef's menu is encouraged.
