What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Contact position at MAXIM CRANE WORKS LP?

Purpose

 

The Safety Contact is responsible for providing risk management and safety programs that are unparalleled in the industry to enhance our award-winning safety culture

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide site management with assistance and technical advice needed for proper administration of Maxim’s Safety Program
  • Maintains safe job sites by providing information relevant to the design and construction of facilities, and the installation of equipment; conducting inspections; recommending improvements
  • Prevents OSHA citations by studying and interpreting regulations and standards; conducting inspections; identifying problems; developing solutions; accompanying and working with inspectors
  • Maintain OSHA records and submit OSHA reports
  • Conduct Jobsite Compliance Audits per Maxim policies and procedures
  • Participate in daily Risk Evaluation Meetings used to identify high risk work activities and hazard analysis/mitigation
  • Conduct pre-employment, post-accident, random (non-DOT and DOT), reasonable cause, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug testing
  • Plan and execute safety plans for projects on site
  • Manage PPE requirements and order supplies as needed to maintain stock
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Education:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • BS/BA in Safety Management or similar field preferred
  • Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety preferred

Experience:

  • 2 years’ experience as a Safety Contact or similar role
  • 1 years’ experience working with reporting

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Moderate knowledge of legislations and procedures
  • Moderate knowledge in writing policies and procedures for health and safety
  • Moderate familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Advanced knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Advanced knowledge of safety management information system
  • Advanced communication and organizational skills

Language Skills:

Must be able to read and comprehend complex instructions, short correspondence and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, use hands to finger; handle or feel; and kneel; crouch; or crawl; and talk; or hear; push and/or pull; reach; climb; bend and/or stoop. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.

Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee spends most of their time in external conditions, which may include temperature variance, elevated noise levels, dust, and fumes. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
