What are the responsibilities and job description for the LPN - Blythewood position at Maxim Healthcare Services?
Maxim Healthcare Services is seeking a LPN/LVN Novice Nurse (< 12 months of experience). The Novice Nurse Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse is responsible for providing and documenting skilled nursing care in accordance with care developed for each individual patient in accordance with physician’s orders when applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate patient/client care and/or contracted services
- Demonstrates on each assignment the provision of skilled nursing care rendered in accordance with prescribed orders
- Identifies and documents changes in patient’s both physiologic and psycho-social condition
- Notifies Director/Supervisor if applicable on the following;
- Physician notification to obtain necessary orders for intervention(s) per state regulations
- Changes in patient/client condition
- Adheres to Maxim's policies and procedures and applicable protocols
- Identifies and prioritizes actions based upon patient/client care requirements
- Assures patient safety at all times and recipient of services provided
- Verifies that documentation reflects patient/client collaboration, participation in plan of care, expected patient/client outcomes, and selected nursing interventions
- Performs interventions, treatments, and medication administration, according to identified priorities, plan of care, facility policies and patient/client care outcome standards as applicable.
- Monitors and documents effectiveness of interventions, treatments, and medications
- Evaluates patient/client and provides a safe, comfortable and therapeutic patient/client environment
- Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment including universal precautions
- Participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications
- Communicates observations and significant changes in patient/client status to the Director of
- Clinical Services and/or Clinical Supervisor /Case Manager or licensed designee
- Documents all physician collaboration/coordination of care in the medical record and communicates this information as needed
- Attends case conferences, team meetings, education in-services as required
- Supports professional practice by observing the following;
- Nurse Practice Act
- Standards of Nursing Practice
- Standards of Patient Care
- Standards of Accrediting Body (ACHC, Joint Commission, etc.)
- State and Local Laws
- Patient Bill of Rights
- Maxim Healthcare, Nursing, and Client’s Hospital Policies
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- License Required
- A minimum GPA requirement is expected. Authorization from Area or Regional clinical leadership should be considered when hiring an applicant who does not meet a 3.0 GPA threshold
- Complies with accepted professional standards and practice
- Current resume including clinical hours and rotations
- Two letters of reference where possible. Prefer one reference to be professional reference (i.e.clinical instructor)
- Current CPR
- PPD or chest X-Ray if applicable
- Successful completion of Maxim Homecare Novice Nurse Program orientation and training
