Job Description Summary
The Senior Java Application Developer sustains existing enterprise Java applications and develops new Java applications for the NIEHS. The enterprise applications enable cross-functional collaboration and empower disruptive research and scientific discovery for environmental and public health. • As a member of an Agile product team, develop applications to meet stakeholder requirements within defined budgetary and scheduling constraints.• Ensure application code is free of errors, vulnerabilities, and performs as expected in all enterprise IT environments.• Leverage common tools like Eclipse and Atlassian Suite (Jira, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Confluence) to develop, test, and deliver applications.• Interface with functional teams to provision infrastructure and storage to support new application requirements and scale to meet stakeholder demands• Remediate identified bugs, errors, and customer requirements • Assess and remediate security vulnerabilities found in applications during automated scansRequired Skills (required skills that should be contract-driven, verifiable, and measurable):• Per Federal requirements candidates must be a US Citizen. Dual citizenship candidates cannot be considered. • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or related field OR 5 years of enterprise Information Technology or development experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.• 5 years of demonstrated Java development and programming experience with Java 8 and higher.• Demonstrated experience using Angular and/or React • Demonstrated experience developing against relational databases and solid SQL skills • 3 years of experience with web services development and API frameworks such as SOAP and REST• 3 years of experience of UI development• Demonstrated experience with the Atlassian suite, specifically Jira and Confluence Desired/Preferred Skills (not contractual obligations):• Experience writing automated unit tests• Knowledge/experience with pipeline automation tools, build tools (ANT/Maven, etc.), and application scanning tools (Netsparker, SAST tools). • Proven experience working as part of a blended Agile Team; specifically experience communicating and interfacing with government clients#techjobs
