We are seeking a a detail-oriented Project Accountant to work full-time with our Accounting and FP&A teams out of our Fredericksburg, VA location. The successful candidate will have a natural passion for getting into the details of financial transactions, while also being able to see the big picture of understanding our monthly financial results and possessing Federal Contractor work experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Govern the accuracy and maintenance of projects using JAMIS with a heavy emphasis on revenue recognition.
- Lead the accumulation, assignment, analysis, and reporting of project revenue, cost data and contract documentation for all contracts.
- Continually assess ongoing processes to identify areas for improvement and added efficiencies
- Lead Project Setup Reviews for new direct jobs in accordance to the program team.
- Working with cross functional leads to troubleshoot downstream issues caused by setup items
- Throughout the month support revenue compliance with extra attention during month end
- Ensure adequate cross-training and backup for critical and time-sensitive project accounting function
- Directly support the accounting team with revenue and payable accruals.
Experience:
- 5 Years - Experience with JAMIS or Costpoint and particularly project setup and billing modules/capabilities is highly preferred
- 5 Years - Experience in federal contractor space, with government contracting environment or related experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, Business or related discipline, or equivalent
- Comprehensive knowledge of cost reimbursable, time and material and fixed price government contracts as well as commercial contracts.
- Ability to understand, interpret and apply accounting standards, federal regulations, award agreements, contractual terms, policies, and procedures
- Track record of delivering well-organized and accurate work and standing up new initiatives
- Ability to work in a fast paced and deadline driven culture
