The Network Services Engineer is responsible for the operation of the firm’s network infrastructure and associated services covering all aspects of hardware, software and management, including and not limited to; router/switch, Wide Area Network, Local Area Network, wireless, internet connectivity, firewalls, SDWAN, WAN Optimization, load balancers, remote VPN access, cloud infrastructure, automation and scripting, network Monitoring, IIS, external DNS & SSL certificates.
Responsibilities
Essential Functions:
- Collaborating with Infrastructure, Cloud, Cyber Security and Application Architects to evaluate and identify optimal cloud and on premise network infrastructure solutions
- Accounts for the implementation, configuration and maintenance of a robust, reliable and secure network service in line with industry standards and best practices
- Completes all administrative tasks, i.e., (time tracking, project and task updates, trouble ticket notes, status reports, responding to email, etc.) accurately and on time
- Ensures preventative maintenance is regularly scheduled and communicated to the business, and that any impact is kept to a minimum
- Works with Application and Infrastructure Architects, application teams, and other infrastructure groups to ensure both new and existing network infrastructure and solutions follow BC/DR guidelines, have documented plans, and are tested and reviewed on a yearly basis, in conjunction with the Global Business Continuity Manager
- Works with vendor partners to test and benchmark new network solutions and technologies. Provides findings to Infrastructure Architecture team and appropriate levels of management
- Ensures vendors provide proper levels of support, maintain SLA’s and provide root cause analysis for escalated issues
- Provide automation enhancements to help keep the environment consistent, ease large tasks, ensure compliance, and help with life cycle management
- Manages the network performance monitoring tools, making sure they are consistent with Firm standards and methodologies
- Works with the architecture team and Network Services lead to defines and manage ongoing network operational requirements, analysis, selection, design, development, implementation and network operations testing,
- Manages escalated network related tickets in accordance with local, regional and global Customer Services standards and processes
- Ensures Firm’s compliance with approved policies and processes
- Maintains inventories and ensures Firm’s compliance with licensing agreements
- Leads relevant Network related technical initiatives on projects
- Ensures all network diagrams and documentation are up to date and of a high quality
- Oversees configurations of network equipment to ensure they are properly backed up
- Creates and submits detailed firewall rule change requests required by the business to our Firewall Managed service provider
- Fosters trust and builds relationships with the other Information Technology teams both globally and within the region
- Reviews software licensing compliance related to network applications, including intellectual property such as SSL certificates and domain names
- Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives
Qualifications
Education/Training/Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered in lieu of the degree when the experience has been directly related to the functions of the job
- Cisco CCNP Enterprise Certification is required
- SilverPeak SD-WAN Certification is preferred
- Azure Certification is preferred
Professional Experience:
- Demonstrated knowledge of configuration, implementation and troubleshooting of the following technologies is essential
- Routing and switching ( 5 years of Cisco ACI, traditional CLI, BGP and OSPF experience is required).
- WAN technologies ( 5 years of MPLS, P-to-P & Internet experience is required)
- Firewall technologies ( 5 years' experience is required)
- Wireless technologies ( 5 years' experience is required)
- Network Monitoring and Management Technologies ( 5 years' experience is required)
- VPN remote access technologies ( 5 years' experience is required)
- Load Balancing technologies ( 5 years' experience of F5 experience is desirable)
- SDWAN technologies is desirable
- WAN Optimization technologies is desirable
- IaaS Cloud infrastructure technologies is desirable
- Network Micro-Segmentation technologies is desirable
- Network Automation and scripting is desirable
